Concertzender recordings: (UN)heard Music Festival Den Haag
The Concertzender will be making recordings on March 4 and 5
at a new festival for ‘unheard music’ that has been organised by the
Matangi Quartet and Korzo Den Haag. The (UN)heard Music Festival is a
multi-disciplinary classical music festival that features works that
deserve more attention.
The first edition of this festival focusses on the music of the
Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov. In addition to some of his
well-known compositions, there are four pieces that will have their
Dutch première. Silvestrov will be present during the festival and on
Saturday evening their will be a ‘marathon’ performance of
his works.
Tickets for the festival are available from the Korzo website.
International Women's Day at the Concertzender
The Concertzender regularly focusses on the work of female
composers. For example, our weekly programme Radio Mona Lisa, which
features female composers from Hildegard Von Bingen to Calliope
Tsoupaki.
On
International Women's Day, Wednesday 8 March, we will be doing
something extra. You will be able to hear a lot of music composed by
women throughout the day. Will the Concertzender sound any different
from other days? It shouldn't do. Women composers are just as good as
the men, right?
The list below includes all our special programmes for International Women's Day:
