CompetitionThis month you can win a CD by the Diogenes Quartet. On it they play string quartets by Franz Schubert: Stringquartet D.804 Rosamunde and Striingquartets D.94 & Andante D.3. The Great Utrecht Bach OffThis year sees the 50th anniversary of the Utrecht Bachcantates, and this will be celebrated on Saturday June 3 with a Bach spectacle titled Heel Utrecht Bacht (The Great Utrecht Bach Off). The festivities include workshops, presentations and concerts and take place in the Academiegebouw on the Domplein in Utrecht. The Concertzender will be making a recording in the Pandhof that will later be broadcast in our series De Musyck Kamer. The guests are bayan player Vladimir Shobanov, cellist Ludwig Döll, gambist Ralph Rousseau and city poet Ingmar Heytze! They will be presenting a preview of the closing concert that will take place in the evening, with an emphasis on the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Meet the Concertzender LIVE during Cultural Sunday on Monday 5th JuneLive music | Interviews | Live radio broadcastIn June, Utrecht, the home of the Concertzender, is all about live music with a new free music festival: Utrecht Centraal. On Monday 5th June Utrecht will be become a huge musical stage with a rich and varied musical offering combined with special, hidden, out of the way locations. From classical to pop, from vocal to instrumental, from new bands to established names. A programme in conjunction with the Utrecht podia and musicians of which there are are so many in the city. Come on Monday 5th June to the Concertzender podium on the Stadhuisplein and meet the Concertzender. Cultural Sundays Utrecht and the Concertzender are working together. The Concertzender will be broadcasting live from the Concertzender podium on the Stadhuisplein. Live music and interviews one after the other. With Eric Vloeimans, Holland Baroque, Folk Road Show and many more! RadioLab during Concertzender LIVEHow do you make a radio interview? Which questions do you ask the artist? What music do you play? You can learn the answers to these questions during RadioLAB, the Concertzender workshop about making a radio programme. Participants work together with our radio presenters and produce a real radio programme. The programmes that are made can be listened to via de Concertzender website. Do you want to take part? The workshop is for children age 8 to 13. Maximum 5 participants per workshop. Reserve a place via radiolab@concertzender.nl, or come along on the day and see if there is still a place available. Friends concert – Are you already a friend?This year the Friends concert takes place in the Museum Speelklok in Utrecht on Thursday 22 June, at the end of the afternoon. You will be able to listen to a programme with music by Schubert surrounded by the museum's wonderful collection of street organs, musical clocks, music boxes and other self-playing instruments. The programme is almost complete and will feature Pauline Verburg (voice), Evert Jan Nagtegaal (voice), Willem Brons (piano) and Geoffrey Madge (piano). All of these performers also make or present programmes for the Concertzender, as well as working as professional musicians. If you are already a Friend, note the date in your diary, Thursday 22 June. If you are not yet a Friend, it is not too late, you can register here, and can be at the concert!
