Composer of the month: Henri DutilleuxEvery month the Concertzender devotes attention to the work of a composer. In December that's Henri Dutilleux. The French composer and music teacher Henri Dutilleux was born on 22nd January 1916 in Angers in Mid-France. When he was six his family set up house in Douai in French-Flanders. From a very young age Dutilleux's talent for music was obvious. During his schooldays he was already following lessons from Victor Gallois in piano, harmony and counterpoint at the conservatorium in Douai. Between 1933 and 1938 he studied at the Conservatoire National Music in Paris. With Jean and Noël Gallon he studied harmony and counterpoint, with Henri Paul Busser composition and with Maurice Emmanuel musical history. More from the Festival of Early Music 2017 in Concertzender LiveIn December we continue our series of broadcasts in Concertzender Live of the recordings that we made during the Festival of Early Music 2017 and the Grachtenfestival 2017. On Thursday 14 December you can listen to the concerts Een Liedboek van Hervormingsgezinde Psalmcomponisten performed by the Gesualdo Consort Amsterdam and the concert given by the Dutch ensemble The Counterpoints during the Grachtenfestival 2017. 100th Madge-pointOn Sunday 10 December 2017 at 10:00 CET we reach another milestone when Geoffrey Madge presents the 100th programme in his series Madge-point. In the series, Louis Thörig and Geoffrey Madge revisit important recordings from the past and present and add their own interesting comments and anecdotes. The series not only looks at pianists, other instrumentalists, singers and conductors are also the subject of analysis. The list is now too long to publish and it is impossible to select highlights because they are always major names. In the 100th programme they will be looking at a recording of a live performance by Geoffrey Madge himself. Recently, the Concertzender recorded his performance of the Goldberg variations by Johann Sebastian Bach. Their views on this masterpiece are worth hearing. Madge-point: Sunday 10 December, 10:00 CET.
