Gaudeamus Music Week Festival: Giveaway! This year the Gaudeamus Music Week takes place from 6 September through 10 September in Utrecht. A week of overwhelming minimal music, wringing soundscapes, experimental electronics, post-pop and electro-acoustic crossovers by young music pioneers. The Concertzender will be right there! A random pick from the concerts we will be recording: Composer on stage with Shalygin's Lacrimosa, Kluster5, Ensemble Modelo62, VanDryver and Slagwerk Den Haag at Gaudeamus Saturday Night and Antheil's Ballet Mécanique performed by Insomnio. A special project during this year's Gaudeamus is Close Call by Arthur Wagenaar. During the concert the composer lets the audience play an active role in the performance of his piece. Change your phone into a new musical instrument by downloading the accompanying CLOSE CALL LIVE app and play along with a ten-person band with three drummers. But mind you! Do you play your phone - or does your phone play you? With this piece, Wagenaar wants to draw attention to the impact smart phones have on society. The smart phone is everywhere, Facebook had a major influence on the American elections, Mark Zuckerberg wants to be the next president, Apple knows everything about you and Google is the new God. More than ever we have become one with our phone. What does that do to us? We are giving away free tickets! The Concertzender will give away 2 sets of 2 free tickets for this unique experience. Do you want to be there? Send an e-mail to publiciteit@concertzender.nl stating 'Close Call' before 5 September. Do not forget to download the CLOSE CALL LIVE app via Google Play or App Store! Interview On 5 June 2017 Arthur Wagenaar was interviewed by youthful participants of our RadioLab during the musical Cultural Sunday in Utrecht. You can listen to the broadcast via this link.
