The Concertzender in September: Contemporary Music Festivals UtrechtFrom September a new cultural season will start with several Utrecht Contemporary Music festivals. At the beginning of September the Gaudeamus festival is on our agenda and at the beginning of November the international Le Guess Who? festival kicks off. A festival to keep in mind is the Gaudeamus festival. It takes place from 6 to 10 September at various locations in the city of Utrecht. You really need to experience this festival LIVE. The experience of new innovative sound art, in which visual art also plays an important role, is essential. The Concertzender will make several audio recordings during Gaudeamus 2023. Although Le Guess Who? is not until November, the Concertzender will be doing a number of previews in September. Furthermore, with the new program Ratatouille (every working day at 4:00 PM) we've taken the first step regarding the renewal of our programming. Website updates are also coming. The most important innovation will be a ‘My Concert Channel’ environment. In addition, the search function will be better integrated into the site, the top bar more striking and the player at the bottom of the screen clearer. |

Saturday, September 23rd: The Great American Songbook “Cabaret Jazz”This time with songs by Bob Dorough, Dave Frishberg and Blossom Dearie. Many songs of these three intertwined excellent American jazz pianists, who were also vocalists, lyricists and composers. In America they're categorised as “Cabaret Jazz”; performances for often smaller groups of enthusiasts, who usually sit at tables with a drink and where you can also react and laugh, because the lyrics are often very witty. They also often performed together and sang and played each other's repertoire. Dave Frishberg and Blossom Dearie co-wrote the song Long Daddy Green and Dave Frishberg and Bob Dorough (who co-wrote the famous jazz standard I'm Hip) even made an album together. Listen: The Great American Songbook “Cabaret Jazz”, Saturday September 23rd, 16:00 - 17:00 CET. |
