Mehmet Polat Trio in Acoustic Roots
The Mehmet Polat Trio was our guest in Acoustic Roots on Friday 18 September 2015. This trio is both a spiritual and musically adventurous meeting between three master musicians and their magical instruments; 
the ney, kora and ud.
This

The
roots of the trio are in the Ottoman,
Anatolian, Balkan and
West-African music traditions and the trio is able to adapt these
traditions to enhance the original compositions by Mehmet Polat
and to create daring improvisations and grooves. And they do this while retaining the warmth and intimacy of a chamber concert. Their first CD Next Spring appeared last year on the Belgian Homerecords
label.

20 years of X-Rated: 1995-2015
In October it is exactly 20 years ago that X-Rated was started by the radio station Kink FM. X-Rated, the programme for experiment, avant-garde and electronic music, has
had a loyal following since it started and the number of fans has
continued to grow since the programme moved to the Concertzender
in
2011.
We do not want this milestone to pass unnoticed! The
celebrations will take place during a dark
but festive extended edition
of the programme
on Sunday 4 October from 20.00 to 23.00 CET,
during which we will be looking back at the best from 20 years of X-Rated.

300th episode of Bach ad Infinitum
Friday 25 September at 13.00 CET is another important milestone for our
series Bach ad Infinitum:
the 300th episode! To celebrate this event, the programme maker Govert
Jan Bach has invited Irene Stolp, the coordinator of the Early Music
programmes at the Concertzender, to present the programme together
with Joop van Zijl.
Irene
has presented many programmes herself
in the past and now has overall
responsibilty
for all our Early Music programmes, including
Bach ad Infinitum. She has an extensive network of contacts in the world of Early Music, follows
all the concerts in the Netherlands and also maintains the website
for the programme. She misses nothing, is an acknowledged expert
and has an important role at the Concertzender.
