This
month you can win a cd from the Pentatone label, with a per-
formance of
Scott Joplins ‘Treemonisha’, if you correctly answer
the prize question.
Last
month's prize question was: In the programme ‘Pentatunes’ you heard
music by George Antheil. Together with actress Hedy Lamarr he worked on
an innovation which today plays a major part in for example the working
of the mobile network. What is it called?
The answer
was: ‘frequency hopping’. They called their innovation ‘Secret
Communications System’. The winner of the George Anthiel cd
is Bob van Eijk. Congratulations !
This month's question
April's prize question is: ‘Treemonisha’ was composed
by Scott
Joplin in 1911. Unfortunately his orchestration was destroyed by water
damage. No-one found it interesting enough to preserve
it. In what
year did this happen and in what year did its premiere take place in
Atlanta on the basis of a reconstruction of the orchestral score?
What can you win?
The cd with the performance
by Gunther Schuller and the Houston Grand Opera Orchestra of Joplins ‘Treemonisha’ on the
label Pentatone (PTC5186221).
What do you have to do?
We will select the prize winner from the correct answers sent
to us and publish
the winner in our next newsletter together with our
next competition. The winner
will also personally receive an e-mail.
This column is possible thanks to several record labels. They provide
us with CDs, DVDs and concert tickets. This month’s CD has been issued
by Pentatone.
