Utrecht Music 2014

Utrecht has always been a musical city, but the opening of the new TivoliVredenburg meant that 2014 was declared the Music Year in Utrecht.

The Concertzender, located in Utrecht, looks back in December at the many festivals and musical events that took place in Utrecht during this year of music. Several programmes about music in the city that were broadcast earlier in the year will be repeated. These include the programme about the Collegium Musicum Ultrajectinum. Also included are highlights from our new series ‘De Musyck Kamer’ such as the interview with the director of the Festival of Early Music, Xavier van Damme, and a special recording of the city's carillonneur Malgosia Fiebig.

There is also a series about the history of TivoliVredenburg, ‘A musical foundation for TivoliVredenburg’, and on Christmas Eve we are broadcasting recordings made during the festival The Mall
of Sound, that took place on 28 June in Hoog Catharijne.
