The Concertzender in September: a brand new programming schedule on Sunday evenings, fresh festival recordings ánd Pocket Concerts

Naturally the music on the Concertzender continues as usual during the summer holidays! During the warm summer days, the Crosslinks gentlemen even put together a brand new programming schedule on Sunday evenings.

And our recording technicians have once again set up their microphones at various festivals for special recordings. Or check out the guests in our Pocket Concerts Studio.

Perhaps you listened to the Concertzender for an extra long time while on vacation, via our new app. Did you miss us? No worries, you can of course simply listen back to all the programmes.

With the loss of our beloved Bob Rusche, a large void has also been left on Sunday evenings. The Crosslinks editorial team has worked hard to fill that gap.

Zondag We have introduced three new programs:

Jammer by Stefan Koopman, with a focus on rhythm
Between Your Ears by Bauke van der Wal
Liminal State by Peter van Cooten, drawing from the rich history of ambient and electronic music

In Memoriam: Bass Harry van der Kamp (1947-2026)

In Documento on Thursday, September 3, we will broadcast an In Memoriam following the passing of the remarkable Dutch bass Harry van der Kamp. He passed away on August 17, 2026, at the age of 79.

After studying singing at the Sweelinck Conservatory, Harry van der Kamp primarily performed music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, including Baroque operas and the Passions of Johann Sebastian Bach. He was a great champion of Sweelinck's music. For his complete recording of Sweelinck's vocal works, Van der Kamp was made a Knight in the Order of the Dutch Lions.

In Documento, we hear a work by Busnois performed by the Kapel van de Lage Landen, music by Sweelinck by the Gesualdo Consort, madrigals by Monteverdi by Tragicomedia with Harry van der Kamp, and a bass aria by Johann Christoph Bach performed by Harry van der Kamp and the Period Instrument Ensemble. Wanted: Concertzender Now Coordinator

After a summer break, the Concertzender Now editorial team has once again gone in search of interesting musical news. Starting September 2nd, the programme can be heard again at its regular slot on Wednesday afternoons.

We are looking for a coordinator for this programme, which is broadcast live from our studio in Utrecht every Wednesday afternoon. Are you someone who wants to make live radio and do you follow current developments in the music and cultural fields? Then this (unpaid) position might be something for you! Check out the vacancy here (in Dutch).

Experience Harp onder de Riem (Harp under the Belt) once more

What began in 2020 as an artist residency took on a life of its own before it even started: the first edition of the festival Een Harp onder de Riem was born. This festival, featuring brand-new music, takes place every July at the Mozes & Aäron Church on the Waterlooplein in Amsterdam.

This year once again featured a packed program, and our recording engineer, Theo van Soest, recorded many of the performances. You can listen to the recordings on our website.

Ranjha brings back the magic of Junun

More than a decade after their acclaimed debut, a new album by Jonny Greenwood, Shye Ben Tzur and The Rajasthan Express has been released: Ranjha. This time, the recordings took place at Greenwood’s studio in England. In addition to Radiohead guitarist Greenwood, The Smile drummer Tom Skinner was also part of the collective.

Often, when combining different styles and influences, the result is greater than the sum of the parts. This is certainly true of this collaboration between Greenwood, Israeli composer and poet Shye Ben Tzur and India’s The Rajasthan Express. That collective consists of twenty musicians, including Qawwali singers, percussionists and a six-piece horn section. Orient Express presents a selection of tracks from both albums.

Live in our studio during the summer

In July and August, we welcomed many guests to our studio for a Pocket Concert.

The Benjamin Herman Trio, Van Dareyn, the Henk Kraaijeveld Trio, the Alexander Beets Quartet and the Jadi Peperzak Quartet all stopped by.

Marion Eugénie Bauer in Between Dreams and Reality

Marion Eugénie Bauer (1882–1955) was an American composer, educator, writer and music critic who played a fundamental role in the development of early 20th-century American music.

She paved the way for a new generation of American composers. Through her influential books and groundbreaking articles, she succeeded in clearly interpreting modernism for the general public.

This broadcast of Between Dreams and Reality focusses on her rich, modernist body of work, while also taking a musical detour to feature her legendary teacher, Nadia Boulanger.
