Utopia, of de wereld op z'n kop

The Tudor-composer Robert Fayrfax and philosopher Thomas More had the same societal criticism and future dreams. Fayrfax wrote innovative music, More created a paper Utopia and wound up in gaol.

Servir Antico is the story of their souls journey between dream and raw reality. The music and texts are collected around the book Utopia by Thomas More from 1516, from the 16th century England, of Fayrfax, Cornysh, Newark and Henry VIII.

Ensemble Servir Antico from Basle is led by the Chilean Catalina Vicens who plays organetto and organ speelt.

Clavier-Übung

During the Early Music Festival 2017 the French harpsichordist/organist Benjamin Alard played the whole Clavier-Übung by Johann Sebastian Bach. There were three works during the second concert.

In the French ouverture and the Italian concerto from Clavier-Übung II by Bach the double keyboard provides what is in essence orchestral music, convincing even on one instrument. Benjamin Alard

And from Clavier-Übung III the French harpischordist/organist Benjamin Alard plays the two manual arragement of the choralprelude Allein gott in der Höh sei Ehr.

Benjamin Alard plays all this on a harpischord with two manuals.
