Panorama de Leeuw: |
Every first Wednesday of the month Thea Derks follows the musical trail of Reinbert de Leeuw on the basis of her biography Reinbert de Leeuw, mens of melodie. In April she continues her survey of his work at the Holland Festival. In the previous episode you could listen to music by various composers including Franz Schreker and Steve Reich. These were recordings of concerts from the Holland Festival, where Reinbert de Leeuw was a regular guest from the mid-60's. Not only as pianist and composer but also as conductor. He was involved in 1966 with the famous multimedia spectacle Labyrint by Peter Schat and his own graphically notated Music for Piano II. In this the piano was played with flat hands and the elbows, so that mostly clusters of notes were heard. On the programme on Wednesday 4th April there is also vocal music by Luigi Nono and Luigi Dallapiccola, with the British soprano Dorothy Dorow as soloist. She was – together with Cathy Berberian – the modern music specialist of her time. Dorow worked that year together with Reinbert de Leeuw on a project about Dallapiccola at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag. Panorama de Leeuw Broadcast: Wednesday 4 April, 21:00 - 22:00 CET Tip: if you purchase the biography via this link you support the Concertzender without any extra cost for yourself.
