Acoustic Roots presents Irena Filippova

 

The singer and accordionist Irena Filippova is the guest in Acoustic Roots on Friday 8 July 2016. The programme will be recorded live in the intimate cellar of the Kargadoor on the Oudegracht in Utrecht. You are welcome to join us for this recording session!

Irena Filippova comes from Saratov, a city in central Russia on the banks of the river Volga. Since her childhood she has been singing Russian songs and accompanying herself on the accordion. She graduated from the Conservatorium in Rostov as both
a solo musician and as a conductor and followed this with a Masters degree at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.

Theatre programmes

Irena Filippova has been making programmes for the theatre together with Hans Visser since 2000, these include Here come the Russians, Journey through Russia, Russian woman seeks man!?, Hermitage, Doctor Zhivago and Russian roulette.

Irena will be performing Russian pop music and traditional songs and sings in both Russian and in Dutch. She will also be performing some of her own compositions, which all reveal her Slavic roots.
