Concertzender Live – Festival of Early Music

In March we will broadcast two programmes in Concertzender Live with concerts from the Festival of Early Music 2013!

On Sunday 9 March you can hear concerts by the vocal ensemble Vox Luminis
and the lutist Hopkinson Smith, and on Sunday 23 March there are performances
by the Huelgas Ensemble and Tetraktys.

Vox LuminisThe concert by Vox Luminis features the wide range of
music that was composed
by Roland de Lassus, or
Orlando di Lasso as he was
also known. The secular works by the ‘French’ Roland de Lassus and the ‘Italian’ Orlando di Lasso include both musical gems and bawdy popular songs. The 11 singers of Vox Luminis are accopanied by Masato Suzuki
on the harpsichord and Jurgen Debruyn on the lute.

The world-famous lutist Hopkin-
son Smith played a late-night concert during the festival.
The programme was called 'Dowland’s Europe' and included music from Robert Ballard and G.G. Kapsberger as well as from John Dowland.

On 23 March you can listen to the concert by the Huelgas Ensemble. This famous vocal ensemble is led by Paul van Nevel and sings motets, psalms and chansons from Lassus and his contemporary Claude Lejeune.

This is followed by Tetraktys, the ensemble led by the recorder player and medieval specialist Kees Boeke. The ensemble plays music by three contemporaries of Johannes Ciconia, including Magister Dominus Paulus Abbas de Fiorentia. The vocal solists are the soprano Julia von Landsberg and the countertenor Carlos Mena.
